A friend of mine was drawn to my painting "hero". So much so that he wrote an incredible poem about it. He called me up this morning to share it with me and it did not take long for my eyes to get watery. I was so touched by his words that I asked if I could share. He said yes. You Are Not Alone by Josh Greep I’ll wade in your pools of neglect or need and I’ll meet your fiery, righteous rage. I’ll scale your walls of reason lunge past your darts of hate I’ll leap the chasm of your delusion! But until I catch your cliff of pain, I’ll leap and leap again! I will not wince as you swing the whip against all of your grief. May it crack against the dark of absurd suffering Let us ride! Let us ride out to the wasteland-- where the world will not speak. Let us raise our fists to heaven when God seems to turn his eye. But let us reconcile one thing-- let us reconcile why: why we’re left alone to wonder why we’re left to wonder why. Hear the answer For even when I’m dead and gone, you will hear me in this quiet. Let the silence warm without a word. For wherever I have gone, I am right here in your suffering-- and you are not alone. Thank you, Joshua. Thank you. I have felt seen and in turn healed and grown a little more. I am not alone. Art is a conversation.
